'Stranger Things' Season 2: Filming for Final Two Episodes Underway

The sophomore season of "Stranger Things" won't arrive until Halloween but it's already become the talk of the town. Although details about the upcoming season remain under wraps, the good news is that production is finally underway.

Since "Stranger Things" debuted last summer, fans have never stopped buzzing about it. No wonder, Netflix was quick to announce its renewal after the first season wrapped up. Season 2 got one step closer to reality when series director Tim Ives announced a few days ago that they have already started production on episodes 8 and 9.

Ives made the announcement on Instagram, where he posted a photo of the director's chair in front of the woods outside of Hawkins, Indiana. In the caption, he confirmed that they would begin filming for the final two episodes.

"My on set chair back against familiar woods. We start filming the final 2 episodes of 2 tomorrow. Super stoked and melancholy at the same time. #selfie #strangerthings #ruleofthirds," he said.

The tall and spindly trees on Ives' on-set photo are reportedly reminiscent of the woods featured in one of the most unforgettable scenes in the season 1 finale, where Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) left Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) favorite Eggos in a box.

"Stranger Things" season 2 will explore the aftermath of the return of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) from the mysterious Upside Down. According to reports, it will pick up a year after the events of season 1, with Will suffering the traumatic effects of his containment in the Upside Down realm. There are also rumors that the new season might see him transform into a sinister creature.

The synopsis for season 2 reads, "A year after Will's return, everything seems back to normal... but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins."

"Stranger Things" season 2 premieres on Oct. 31 on Netflix.
