'Stranger Things' Season 2 Spoilers, News: First Look Photos Released; Paul Reiser Teases Character
Netflix is wasting no time in promoting the second season of their breakout thriller "Stranger Things." The streaming giant has released first look photo stills from the upcoming installment, featuring both old and new characters.
The photo stills show various scenes, including one that sees newcomer Sadie Sink as Max. Her character has been described to have a mysterious past, but she is also going to shake things up for the boys, romantically. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) will both show an interest in Max, igniting a love triangle.
Another photo sees the four boys dressed up as Ghostbusters on Halloween as they carry bags for their candy. The Halloween episode is likely the premiere since the story picks up on that day, a year after the events of season 1. It looks like Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) are also going to be spending more time together in the new season as one photo shows them in a car looking horrified. The photos come roughly a week following the trailer Netflix released during Super Bowl 2017.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Matt Duffer revealed that Will (Noah Schnapp) is going to be facing some post-traumatic stress after his experience in the Upside Down. "He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down—the question is whether they're real or not," Duffer teased.
On the other hand, Mike (Finn Wolfhard) is grieving the apparent death of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). The threat of the Upside Down and the monsters that reside in it will loom over the town of Hawkins, Indiana once again. This time, though, Paul Reiser's Dr. Owens will be in charge of the lab.
Reiser revealed in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly that his character's intentions are a bit gray and undetermined. "They told me who I was playing and they told me what they had in mind," he said. "It was sort of nebulous — is he a good guy or a bad guy? To be honest, I've only read a few of the scripts so I still don't know and I'm not sure they know."
"Stranger Things" season 2 is not scheduled to premiere until Halloween this year.
