'Street Fighter 5' Running Second Beta for PC and PS4 This Month

Capcom has announced it will be holding its second beta testing for its upcoming "Street Fighter V" for PC and PlayStation 4 this month.

"Street Fighter V," Japanese video game publisher Capcom's fifth main entry in its "Street Fighter" franchise, is due to be released sometime in early 2016, and a second beta test has already been confirmed for PC and PS4 players in late October.

The first beta test, which was held in July for North American PS4 console players, was an exclusive testing and was made available only with preorders of the game on Steam. This second beta, which will begin on October 22 for PS4 and on October 24 for PC, will run both platforms and allow players of both consoles to compete against each other to make it to the top of the same leaderboards.

The upcoming beta will last only for two to three days, depending on the player's console, unlike the first one which took nearly a week. The second phase will introduce beta testers to new characters Capcom has since revealed in the first test, including Rainbow Mika, Vega, Necalli, and Ken. Rashid is expected to be joining the roster on the 23rd, with Karin hopping into the ring by the 24th. Five other characters included in the first beta, M. Bison, Nash, Birdie, Cammy, Chun-Li, and Ryu, will not be made available for beta number two.

When the second beta testing phase commences, participating players will try out the game's Ranked Matchmaking feature to get paired with another player with the same skill level. During the first beta, Ranked Matchmaking was reviewed to be not as accurate as Capcom led testers to believe, which may be the reason it is testing the feature a second time.

The first beta also allowed players to earn Fight Money, a new currency prepped to be introduced when the game officially launches. However, the first beta testers weren't given anything to spend their Fight Money on.

This time around, Capcom will be offering the second set of beta testers some unlockables, titles, and the Kanzuki Estate stage for which to use any Fight Money they earn during the second beta.

Players looking to join the second beta can preorder the game on Steam, while PS4 gamers in the UK can sign up at the PlayStation Store. "Street Fighter V" is expected to launch for PC and PlayStation 4 in Q1 2016.
