'Street Fighter 5': Third Beta To Launch This Month?
Japanese video game developer and publisher Capcom's "Street Fighter V" looks all set to have its third beta this month.
Someone was able to download a beta version 1.06 on his PlayStation 4 earlier this week and an advertisement was spotted to list the third beta's schedule.
On Tuesday, a NeoGaf forum user spotted and took a screenshot (below) of the "Street Fighter V" advertisement that lists beta access as a perk. According to the PlayStation Store advertisement, the third beta will run from Dec. 17 to 20.
Giving credence to a possible beta are reports of a mysterious update on Tuesday.
On the same day, Reddit user Nightblade777 said his PlayStation started downloading "Street Fighter V" beta version 1.06 when he logged in. He was not able to log into the server, though. This despite the official "Street Fighter" website indicating the beta server is online, which seems to be a glitch in the system as other Redditors observed it has been online for some time now.
According to EventHubs, the update has a hefty 2.26 GB file size and simply says "fixed various issues." The publication and others suggest the update seems to be a strong indication that Capcom is indeed prepping for another beta testing phase.
No information about the characters and content included in the beta is available at this point though, nor has Capcom confirmed or issued any statement to deny this information as of this writing.
What is confirmed though is that gamers will be able to play "Street Fighter V" during the PlayStation Experience happening on Dec. 5 and 6 in San Francisco, California. Participants will be able to play 15 fighters including Dhalsim, Laura, Karin, and Rashid.
Capcom will also hold its Capcom Cup at the event. The player who bests 31 other gamers in "Ultra Street Fighter IV" will win $250,000.
"Street Fighter V" is scheduled for release on Feb. 16 on the PC and PS 4.
