In addition to the typical bug fixes and gameplay balancing, the first drop will add a new challenge mode to the game. It features "Demonstration" tutorials for each character divided into three categories focusing on beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. The new challenge mode also includes "Trials" which will test players' skills from basic to pro combos and will be an opportunity to earn FightMoney.

Capcom will also be bringing a number of online multiplayer improvements to the game. The Battle Lounge will be able to hold up to eight-person lobbies where players can watch matches through the match spectating support. Players will also be able to set ranked and casual matches to have two or three rounds, provided both players agree to the rematch.

The second drop will bring the first DLC character Alex who will be available for free to all players for a limited time. The trial period will end once the in-game shop, which will also arrive with the update, will be able to accept Zenny or real money. Starting Wednesday, the in-game shop will only accept Fight Money in exchange for add-on content as Capcom is still working on its Zenny functionality.

In addition, Ryu and Chun-Li's story mode costumes will also be free for all players. Capcom says this is its way of "saying thanks for everyone's patience and understanding throughout the beta phases and game launch." However, IGN and others are taking this as "apology gifts" or as the company's way of saying "sorry."

"Street Fighter V" received criticisms at launch for its lack of in-game content, including a story mode, tutorials, and some features for online play. The new updates are believed to address these, although fans believe more should be done before the game will fit its $60 price tag. Right now, critics say the game feels more of an Early Access.
