'Street Fighter V' News: Post-Launch Support Plans To Be Provided for 'Many More Years,' According to Capcom

DLC support possibly coming to 'Street Fighter V' through at least 2020

"Street Fighter V" is currently in the midst of its second season, and two new characters have already been introduced within this timeframe. However, there's still more content coming and not just for this year too.

The folks over at Capcom have recently hinted at their long-term plans for the fighting game, revealing that they are still far from finished.

Just recently, Capcom Europe COO Stuart Turner told GamesIndustry.biz that the game is now "hitting its stride" and that there are support plans laid out for "many more years."

Notably, this is not the first time that the folks over at Capcom have indicated that post-launch support for the newest installment of the "Street Fighter" franchise will extend well beyond this year.

Late last year, Capcom producers Tomoaki Ayano and Yoshinori Ono talked to Famitsu and also revealed then that there are long-term plans already in place for "Street Fighter V."

EventHubs provided a translation of that interview, and according to it, Ono shared that post-launch support for the game will go past just a couple of years. Ono added that even back then, they already had plans in place that ran all the way to 2020.

Ayano also mentioned that the game is one they are working on and planning for simultaneously.

The extended post-launch support plans for "Street Fighter V" may please fans who might have felt that the launch day version of the game was lacking. Unfortunately, specific details about what these post-launch plans are remain largely unavailable at this point, though players can expect that at least four more DLC characters will be released during Season 2 in addition to the already available Akuma and Kolin.

Balance updates are coming as well, with the next one already scheduled to be made available next month, according to a recent post on the Capcom Unity blog.

More news about the other additions coming to "Street Fighter V" should be made available in the near future.
