'Suicide Squad 2' Release Date, Latest News: Another Infamous Batman Villain to Be Featured?
"Suicide Squad 2" is expected to feature another familiar Batman villain, if the latest details about the highly anticipated sequel are any indication.
Concept art from the first movie revealed Scarecrow, who was supposed to be part of the action. However, it seems that he would have felt out of place there.
But it appears that Warner Bros. is not done with the nasty piece of work just yet. Movie Pilot believes that Scarecrow should be in "Suicide Squad 2."
The site believes that he will be a perfect, if not better, replacement for El Diablo. He could also be an effective plot device that will help the film move forward.
Scarecrow is known for tormenting his enemies with their worst fears. In "Suicide Squad 2," he is imagined to do just that on Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and the gang.
The character has been portrayed in film in the past. "Peaky Blinders" actor Cillian Murphy brought Scarecrow to life on the big screen in Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins."
For now, however, there is no word on what "Suicide Squad 2" has in store although Warner Bros. is actively working on it. In fact, the studio is eyeing Mel Gibson to direct the sequel.
The director, who recently earned praises for his work in "Hacksaw Ridge," seems to be interested in being part of the comeback of the worst heroes ever on the big screen.
Asked by Entertainment Tonight about the "Suicide Squad 2" gig, Gibson said that he does not know yet, but he implied he is interested.
"I just met some guys about story points. It's not a done deal or anything. But it's just fun to shoot the bull when it comes to stories. And if we can elevate any kind of concept it's good. We'll see," he said.
"Suicide Squad 2" is currently slated for 2019.
