'Suicide Squad' Official Synopsis Hints At 'Enigmatic' Foe
Finally, an official synopsis for "Suicide Squad" has been unveiled and it's sounding so good yet so bad.
In the synopsis obtained by Comic Book, DC is hinting that the team is up for a fight against a big, bad enemy that is not shown anywhere in the promotional photos, and probably not even shown in the trailers.
"It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?"
The most powerful part of the synopsis is probably the ending as it hints that the team of evil will be choosing between trying to succeed even to death as a team or just fight their own battles away from the possibility of killing themselves in the process of saving a squad mate.
The synopsis also hints that whoever the team of Super Villains will be tasked to destroy is someone who is bigger than any of the villainous deeds the villains-turned-heroes have ever done. It is unclear if this "entity" is either one of them or one of the people who are backing their mission up.
Slash Film says there are a good number of suggestions that could pop out when the big bad is discussed. One possibility is the biggest name in the life of The Dark Knight, which is none other than Jared Leto's Joker.
The outlet explains that he is not included in any of the group shots even if he's been spotted in the trailers and has his own promo photos. The teasers have also been good in keeping what he is supposed to do in the movie — whether he's a friend or a foe.
Other rumors suggest that it might be the Enchantress. She also isn't part of the group shots so she passes up for the role of a one, true villain.
On the other hand, there's Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, who is going to be the reason behind Batman and Superman's squabble in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Multiple outlets have picked up on the rumor that Lex will appear in the movie but it is also uncertain if he will be the biggest enemy that the team will have to defeat.
"Suicide Squad" is slated for release on August 5, 2016.
