Super Bowl 50 Updates On Halftime Show Performers and Guests
The whole world will be watching Super Bowl 50's Halftime performance, and fans wonder who will headline this year.
According to SB Nation, this year's headliner will be the British rock band Coldplay. It will be Coldplay's first time to appear during Super Bowl's halftime show ever since the band was formed in 1996. Sharing the stage with the iconic band are Beyoncé, who was also the headliner in Super Bowl 47, and Bruno Mars, who also took the Super Bowl stage in 2014.
There are also several speculations on who will sing alongside Coldplay, since there have been a lot of acts that took the stage as surprise guests previously. The website that Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, might appear as a surprise guest since the rapper already collaborated with Coldplay in the past for the band's single "Lost."
Another rumor that's been circulating is Rihanna and Justin Timberlake's appearance on the halftime show. Actor and TV personality Elgin Charles recently tweeted about this "exclusive," and said, "#Rihanna & #JustinTimberlake Will Be Appearing/Performing At #SB50. It Hasn't Been Announced Yet, So Consider This An Elgin Exclusive!"
The appearance of the two artists is not confirmed, but fans are already looking forward to see Justin's return on the Super Bowl stage, after the unfortunate incident during his performance with Janet Jackson at Super Bowl 38, 12 years ago.
However, despite Janet's wardrobe malfunction that night, it was still regarded as one of the best Super Bowl halftime performances, according to Kron4 News. Among the other top performances at the past Super Bowl halftime shows are Michael Jackson in 1993, U2 in 2002, Prince in 2007, and Bruno Mars in 2014. It might be tough for Coldplay to surpass these performances, especially when there are over 100 million viewers watching. However, the band has one of the best track records in the music industry, and viewers will just have to stay tuned this Sunday to see if Coldplay can make history.
Watch Super Bowl 50 this Sunday, Feb. 7, on CBS.
