However, there are rumors that the NFL management reached out to Jay-Z's team and asked him to perform at the Super Bowl 52 next year – an offer that the rap icon reportedly denied.

According to The Sun newspaper, someone close to Jay-Z reportedly said: "He really has no plans to do the half-time show."

Interestingly, the report on the declined offer came shortly after Jay-Z dedicated a performance to Colin Kaepernick during his concert in New York City several days ago. Jay-Z's show of support was done at a time when Kaepernick ended up unsigned despite showing a good presence in the field last season.

Fans may recall that Kaepernick also became known for his bold consistent acts of protest during the previous NFL season to call out racism. Fellow NFL players deemed this as the reason for why no team picked up Kaepernick despite his solid performance.

Meanwhile, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy addressed the reports and told Pro Football Talk through email that they have not yet made any offer to anyone for the Super Bowl 52 half-time show.

"No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists. Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names," McCarthy said.
