'Super Mario Maker' News: Player Creates A Calculator Using Tools In The Game
A genius gamer was able to create a functional calculator in "Super Mario Maker" by only using the tools available in the game. While it is true that the calculator can only add certain numbers and its function is confined to addition only, there is no denying that having something like this created can really leave gamers in awe.
I Digital Times explained in its article that the calculator can only add two numbers that range from zero to seven. With this, it won't take a lot of brains to conclude that the calculator can only compute for a sum not higher than 14. Additionally, despite the fact that the calculator was created in binary, it has the ability to convert the answer back to decimal.
For a player to use the calculator, he must go to the first hallway and jump to a number of his choice. After which, he needs to jump to the second hallway and choose another number that he intends to use. From there, he must jump to that number's assigned slot and go all the way to the top hallway. Finally, he must run straight to the warp pipe located on the left side.
According to I Digital Times, the said calculator was created by a certain Reddit user named Helgefan. In his post, Helgefan referred to his creation as "cluttered chaos calculator." The Reddit user responsible for the "Super Mario Maker" calculator also explained the rationale behind his creation, which many gamers and experts alike believe as something well-thought-of.
"The Cluttered Chaos-Calculator is a digital circuit consisting of logic gates such as AND and OR not unlike an electronic calculator. However, instead of 2 different voltage levels, shelmet (1) or no shelmet (0) are used as binary states (bits). Simple adding machines have been created in the past with Super Mario Maker, but to my knowledge this is the first one with a decimal conversion and proper display of the result," Helgefan said in his Reddit post.
However, according to Kotaku, the actual creator of the "Super Mario Maker" calculator is no less than the creator of the game itself, Giant, and is just hiding behind the name Helgefan.
