'Super Mario Run' News: New Character, Mode and World in Upcoming Update

"Super Mario Run" is getting a major update next week, in which it will receive a bunch of exciting new content for players to tinker with.

For starters, the mobile game will add Princess Daisy as the seventh playable character. Thanks to her special double jump ability, players will get to enjoy better chances at obtaining hard to reach coins.

However, in order to play as the new character and add her in the roster, "Super Mario Run" players will have to rescue the princess first. Daisy awaits them in the new mode called Remix 10.

This new mode that will be added via the update basically requires players to clear 10 "super-short" sections from the existing levels in the game as fast as possible.

Per the official description for the new "Super Mario Run" mode:

The stages are remixed with each attempt, and with rainbow-colored bonus medals strewn across these bite-sized stages, it's a fresh challenge every time.

Remix 10 will also reward "Super Mario Run" players with new decorative items for their Mushroom Kingdom after clearing each stage.

Finally, "Super Mario Run" will also open up an exciting new world called World Star, which will be home to nine brand-new levels and new enemies.

Accessible after completing the first six worlds in the game, World Star will implement new gameplay mechanics and will have a surge of pink and black coins up for grabs, at least compared to their current scarce availability in the game.

As an adorable perk, the "Super Mario Run" update will also show Mario and the characters wearing headphones when gamers play the game while listening to music.

The Super Mario Run" update will roll out on Sept. 29. On that day up to Oct. 12, Nintendo will celebrate its release with a 50 percent discount on the price of the game.
