Super Smash Bros 4 Characters: Link Appears in Picture With Cucco

The latest pic of the day released by Super Smash Bros 4 director Masahiro Sakurai features characters Link and a Cucoo.

"Seriously, attacking them is out of the question! This has always been a cardinal rule in the Legend of Zelda series," said Sakurai under the pic.

This starts the 13th week for Sakurai's pic of the day series that shows off different stills from the Wii U and 3DS versions of the future Super Smash Bros titles.

Last week he revealed a new level for the 3DS version that comes straight out of Super Mario 3D Land.

"Here's some info on the Nintendo 3DS stage called Super Mario 3D Land! First, it advances by side-scrolling," he said on Miiverse.

Another MiiVerse pic of the day post from last week displayed Super Smash Bros 4 characters Kirby and Luigi fighting around a Smash Ball.

"That item that brings victory one step closer… the Smash Ball. Of course everyone wants it! Come to think of it, I haven't introduced any of the Final Smashes yet… Then again, if," he said.

The new games were originally rumored to be coming out in spring 2014, according to a Nintendo executive from Germany, but the company now claims that information was based on a misquote.

Nintendo's Bernd Fakesch held an interview with Neckar-chronik.de last year regarding upcoming releases for the company. Fakesch was quoted as saying the game would be arriving.

"For next spring two more big license games are also announced for our TV console with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros," read the quote.

A Nintendo representative contacted VG247 to inform them of the misquote. "We would like to clarify that the speculation about a Spring 2014 launch date for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U was the result of a misquotation in an interview," they said.
