'Super Smash Bros. 4' News: Shovel Knight Rumors Shot Down As Fans Await Next Character DLC
The fighting video games of "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS" and "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U," which are collectively known as "Super Smash Bros. 4," are expected to receive a character downloadable content or DLC soon. Fans are expecting the DLC to arrive soon as the game's Fighter Ballot was closed on October 3. According to Master Herald, the Fighter Ballot asked fans of the game to name which characters they would want included in the game. The game is known for including characters not only from Nintendo franchises but also from third party franchises.
As Nintendo has been quiet about which characters are coming soon, many rumors have been circulating, speculating on who is arriving to the game in the coming DLC. The most popular rumor is that of Shovel Knight, the lead protagonist in the game of the same name, which was developed by Yacht Club Games. However, this rumor was shot down by none other than Yacht Club Games, who wrote in a Twitter post: "Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error." In addition to this, they also said that their character is not compatible with the "Super Smash Bros." game, as reported in the Master Herald.
According to another report in Ecumenical News, the upcoming DLC may likely fill what data miners discovered as two empty stages and three characters that have yet to be identified. This prompted more rumors about other characters, most popular of which are Isaac of the "Golden Sun" game and Wolf O'Donnell of "Star Fox," as listed by Master Herald. The Inklings of "Splatoon" were separately named by Gamnesia. Until Nintendo makes an official announcement however, fans can only speculate and wish that their favorite characters make it to the list.
"Super Smash Bros. 4," which consists of the two games, is the fourth installment of the series. Developed by Sora Ltd. and Bandai Namco Games, they were published in 2014 by Nintendo for their two consoles, the 3DS and the Wii U.
