Super Smash Bros 4 director Masahiro Sakurai revealed the inspiration behind the design of one of the levels in the upcoming game.

The new platforming stage is inspired by the New Super Mario Bros games for the DS, Wii, and Wii U reports Examiner.com.

The level will be tricky to maneuver as the battle takes place on rotating square blocks.

"Stages like this one are often seen in the New Super Mario Bros series. It means trouble," the director said via Nintendo.

The screenshot, taken from the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros 4, can be seen here.

Other stages Sakurai has discussed are the Metroid, Other M level's hidden area.

The level is called Pyrosphere, and it it features a corridor within the walls that will be hidden during gameplay even though it is an open space.
"Inside the corridor of the walls in Pyrosphere, a view that's really not visible in-game. You can't tell from the picture, but it's actually a gigantic open space," he said.

The stage is based off of a level in Metroid: Other M, which is the character Samus' game. He also hinted that the villain of Ridley, from the series, will make an appearance as well.

Also a recent photo with Kirby in it, was getting some attention because of the background in the photo.

Kirby was placed over a background of a starry night sky hinting the new level could be from the Super Mario Galaxy series of games for the Wii. The first game came out in 2007 while part two was released in 2010.

The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, and the Villager.

Super Smash Bros has become a Nintendo fan favorite for the company since its first release on the N64, followed by "Super Smash Bros. Melee" on Gamecube and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Wii.

This will be the first time the series comes to a handheld system, the 3DS.
