'Supergirl' Season 3 Spoilers: Kara Faces New Psychokinetic Nemesis In Episode 2
A new villain will torment Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) when "Supergirl" returns for season 3.
According to reports, Kara will have to face a powerful psychokinetic villain named Psi in the second episode of season 3 titled "Triggers." The character will be portrayed by "Jane the Virgin" star Yael Grobglas.
The synopsis for the episode revealed that Psi will make life difficult for Kara's alter ego Supergirl as she attacks National City, but instead of physical torment, the new villain will challenge her mentally by tapping into her worst fears.
Aside from Psi, the new season of "Supergirl" will also feature the changes in Samantha's (Odette Annable) life as she transformed into Supergirl's next big enemy.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted that Samantha will turn into the villain named Reign in the upcoming season.
"When we meet Reign, she's just a woman," Kreisberg stated. "Her name is Samantha and she's a single mom, and she has no idea that she is Reign; she has no idea that she was the baby in the pod at the end of last season, so the journey that she takes this season is watching her realize her heritage and see how it manifests."
The executive producer also stated that the character's transformation into the new big bad will play a big part in the show's theme in the upcoming season. According to Kreisberg, each character will ask themselves how it is really like to be human.
Meanwhile, Variety reported that Kara's task of protecting National City from the bad guys will be easier with the introduction of a new hero named Saturn Girl, played by Amy Jackson.
According to the report, the strong-willed hero who is also known as Imra Ardeen will utilize her telekinetic powers to help those in need. Her assistance will come just in time to help Kara face one of her most dangerous enemies in the upcoming season.
The CW will air the premiere episode of "Supergirl" season 3 on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EDT.
