'Supergirl' Season 3 Spoilers: Kara Meets Her Biggest Fan
Kara (Melissa Benoist) is set to meet the president of her fandom in the upcoming season of "Supergirl."
According to Entertainment Weekly, the CW series has tapped Chad Lowe to play the role of Thomas Coville, "a charismatic religious leader" who will form an unexpected bond with the Girl of Steel.
Coville's cult reportedly worships Kara's alter ego. As her biggest fan, the spiritual man is committed to sharing with his followers his faith in Supergirl's mission to save the world.
Lowe will reportedly appear in the episode titled "The Faithful." He is one of the new faces that viewers will see in the new installment aside from Odette Annable, Adrian Pasdar and Carl Lumbly, among others.
Meanwhile, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has revealed a huge spoiler about the villain Reign (to be portrayed by Annable). According to him, Reign will not be a typical villain. Instead, she will first be seen as Samantha, a single mother. She is not aware that she is part of the Worldkillers. Reign's journey in season 3, according to the EP, involves her realizing her own heritage and embracing her villain persona. In the comics, Reign was part of the bloodthirsty, genetically-improved beings that will conquer Earth. The EP also teased that the major dilemma of the characters in the new installment is the struggle to become human.
"Usually on these shows, you either meet the big bad at the end of episode 1 or you meet them at episode 7 or 9, and you realize that they've been pulling the strings the whole time, and were out there working with their multi-year plan to take down the heroes or destroy the city. When we were figuring out Reign, one thing we've never really seen on any of these shows is we've never seen the big bad become the big bad," Kreisberg said in an interview with EW.
"Supergirl" season 3 will air on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
