'Supergirl' Series News: 'Wonder Woman' to Join Supergirl in Season 2
After leaving her own legion of fans disappointed for not being included in the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie of Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter, TV's quintessential Wonder Woman, is joining another female DC superhero on TV, CBS's "Supergirl," once its yet-to-be announced season two starts unfolding.
Carter is forever embedded in the hearts and minds of every '70s kid as her "Wonder Woman" series ruled television from 1975-79, making her the most identifiable live-action version of the Amazonian warrior princess. When DC and Warner Bros. announced that Gal Gadot would suit up as the new Wonder Woman for this generation via "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and her upcoming first-ever standalone film feature slated for a June 2017 release, fans of Carter could only hope that she would be part of the movie, preferably as Hipplolyta, Wonder Woman's mother and Queen of the Amazons.
However, to the dismay of Carter's fans, Warner Bros. and DC "crowned" actress Connie Nielsen as the Amazonian queen for the "Wonder Woman" movie. In her interview with Glamour magazine, though, Carter, who is also a singer, disclosed that her hectic schedule for her concert tours prevented her from joining the movie. It is not certain, though, whether she was invited to audition, or if she actually auditioned for the role.

As fate would have it, the former Wonder Woman is now set to join Supergirl for the CBS hit DC series season two run as confirmed by "Supergirl" executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti
"We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter… we couldn't work out her schedule. Next year," said Berlanti.
"We're going to do it, we'll just do it next year," echoed Kreisberg.
While it's true that Carter is not joining the show as a costume-clad female superhero, it doesn't mean that she will be powerless. In fact, her upcoming role comes with the coveted powers that many real-life women can only dream of: USA's female president.
Meanwhile, "Supergirl" is yet to be renewed for its season two run. However, with the pronouncements of Kreisberg and Berlanti, it seems safe to say that the Girl of Steel will still be seen flying on TV again after its season finale episode happens on April 18.
