'Supernatural' Season 11 Episode 8 Spoilers: Visit From Sam's Imaginary Friend Takes a Deadly Turn
The upcoming eighth episode of season 11 of "Supernatural" promises to be a most interesting one. This episode deals with the manifestation of Sam's imaginary friend, Sully, who can be seen by both Sam and Dean. Titled intriguingly "Just My Imagination," the episode promises to show Sam and Dean's childhood.
The official synopsis of the episode states: "Sam (Jared Padalecki) is shocked when his childhood imaginary friend Sully (guest star Nate Torrence) makes an unexpected appearance. Sam can't understand why he'd see Sully now but what's even more surprising is that Dean (Jensen Ackles) can see him, too. Flashbacks reveal young Sam's friendship with Sully and why he needed him."
Way back in September, Entertainment Weekly reported Sully as the imaginary friend of Sam which he had created in his childhood to deal with loneliness as big brother Dean and their father would be out hunting monsters and saving the world.
In this episode, Sully once again enters Sam's life and asks for help. What help would an imaginary friend who does not exist outside Sam's head need?
The promo shows imaginary friends of other children, created by them, are being killed by a mysterious entity. Since Sully is also an imaginary friend, he is feeling threatened and asks Sam to help.
There is a shot of a murdered mermaid and Sully tells Sam, "It's a blood bath!"
Fans of this iconic show will be familiar with a character called "The Trickster" who seems to be hinted at in the promo of the episode. He appeared in Season 5 in the episode titled "Hammer of the Gods" and has a sweet tooth. There is a link between the upcoming episode and the episode "Hammer of the Gods" of Season 5 and that is Richard Speight, Jr. He had acted in the episode of Season 5 as The Trickster and now, he is directing the upcoming episode.
The Trickster/ Loki/ Gabriel character was killed by Lucifer but the character returned in Season 9's "Meta Fiction." The character might be making a return yet again in the new episode of Season 11 of "Supernatural."
"Supernatural" returns on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 9:00 pm EST on The CW.
