'Supernatural' season 11 news, cast, spoilers: What will Castiel bring this season?

There's a lot of new challenges this upcoming season for the Winchester boys. Going up against a force so ancient that they will not be able to pull information from any of their current supernatural allies, Crowley and Castiel. So what will Castiel be bringing to the table this time around then?

According to Cartermatt, after the crazy eventful episodes involving Rowena and the angel, in the last season, Castiel is more likely going to be suffering than helping. Executive producer Jeremy Carver shares that Castiel's experience is "not as easy as it may sound. Being under the influence of this spell, it's going to lead him to some pretty uncomfortable situations."

New promotional pictures also show Castiel with bloody eyes, so it may be quite rough for him. It is hoped that Castiel will surpass this personal crisis and will be able to go back to his usual team-up with the Winchester boys, as the trio's dynamic is best in solving cases, and with the need to defeat an unknown force, it is implied that they would have to put their best together.

Crowley, on the other hand, may have come out better than the rest, but it doesn't mean that he is safe as he has a lot to deal with in his hands, such as dealing with the chaos that is approaching the world. Carver says, Crowley is "very much trying to figure out how he is going to navigate this new world where The Darkness threatens just about everything."

Other new promotional pictures released by TV Line also include Sam being bruised and with a gun in his hand. It seems that rough times will be ahead of the boys, leaving them more physically damaged than usual.

Season 11 of Supernatural will premiere on the CW on Oct. 7 at 9/8C.
