'Supernatural' Season 12 Release Date: 23 Episodes Confirmed for 2016-2017 Run; Complete Cast, Spoilers and Everything We Know So Far

The 11th season of popular TV series "Supernatural" had 23 episodes and ended last May 25, 2016. It had a steady viewership of up to 1.8 million. This alone raises the question if there is a season 12 coming up. The 11^{th season wrapped up with a resurrected Mary Winchester in Dean's hands.}

Just right on time, CW renewed for a 12^{th season which is expected to be aired on October 13, 2016. For this run, Dean and Sam Winchester will continue their quest of hunting for demons, ghosts and monsters. The renewal of Supernatural's season 12 has not been a surprise since the last season received a universal acclaim which was satisfactory television ratings from viewers.}

Season 12 will have a different showrunner since Jeremy Carver will focus on Frequency and will be replaced by Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb who previously served as executive producers of the show. Supernatural is CW's longest running show which depicts normal people on the hunt for supernatural beings. This show was created by Erik Kripke and premiered on September 13, 2005 on the WB Network.

The Hunt Continues

Mark Pedowitz, head of CW has occasionally reported that as long as Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) are willing to do the series, then there is no way the show will stop.

"Both Jared and Jensen are having a blast, and as long as they have a blast, it's a great thing," Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in January (via Variety).

 Both stars, Ackles and Padalecki, are on for season 12 and hopefully, season 13 in this longest-running show. Season 12 will include the show's 250^{th episode which proves that it has been on television for quite a long while.}

Focused on acting

 Ackles as dedicated himself on directing an episode per season, but this time on Season 12 he will take a pass on directing and will focus more on the character. He usually directs the first episode of each season for the past instalments.

 Furthermore, as reported by IBTimes, Lady Antonia Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore) may be the new villain for this season. This was depicted in the final episode of season 11 when she shot Sam. Sam and Dean's mom Mary (Samantha Smith) may also return for the upcoming season.
