'Supernatural' Season 12 Spoilers, Updates: Fan Favorite Castiel Gets a Lot of Attention in New Season as Cancellation Rumors Continue to Loom Over Series

Mary Winchester being back and Castiel returning to his old badass self will surely make "Supernatural" Season 12 emotionally charged and action packed just like the series has always been known to be. But, cancellation rumors cast a dark shadow over all the hype of its return on October 13 on The CW.
Spoilers for "Supernatural" Season 12 have hinted that the show will be going old school to sort of amp the storyline. According to said spoilers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) will go against the Men of Letters together with their mom Mary (Samantha Smith) and Castiel (Misha Collins)

No matter how exciting the prospects of "Supernatural" Season 12 are however, the long running hit is being hounded by rumors that the coming season will be its last. Poor ratings are being blamed for the cancellation.
Fans of the Winchester brothers need not take the rumors too hard however. Lead stars Ackles and Padalecki reportedly are asking for a spinoff series in the event that "Supernatural" Season 12 is indeed to end. However, The CW president Mark Pedowitz himself debunked the cancellation rumors in a recent interview.
Stable ratings
He declared that as long as he is The CW chair and the show's ratings remain stable, he will be the show's biggest supporter for it to continue beyond "Supernatural" Season 12. Pedowitz in the same statement subtly implied that the show is doing well in the ratings department.
Pedowitz went on to say that "Supernatural" will be around maybe in some other form long before he moves out as network president. For now, he says that the best he can do for "Supernatural" Season 12 is to basically make sure that everybody doesn't mess up.
Castiel gets more attention
Since the series is not doing bad in the ratings, it will be up to Padalecki, Ackles and the rest of the "Supernatural" Season 12 cast if they want to go on with the show. In the new season, Collins, who plays a fan favorite angel, will apparently be getting a lot of attention.
According to "Supernatural" Season 12 spoilers, Castiel will be featured in several standalone episodes that will most probably tackle his angel backstory. Collins also previously revealed that his character will be in a tandem with Crowley (Mark Shepard) to take out Lucifer (Rick Springfield).
Taking away the cancellation rumors, things are looking good for "Supernatural" Season 12. Fans anticipate for it to more than likely breath life into the long-running series that will hopefully extend its life.
