'Supernatural' Season 13 Spoilers: The Winchesters Must Deal With Their Own Battles This Season
The Winchesters will have to face their battles on their own in season 13 of "Supernaturals" beginning this week.
In an interview with Variety, executive producer Andrew Dabb revealed that both Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) had to rely on themselves now that their usual support group will be missing in action. They must also take care of Lucifer's (Mark Pellegrino) son Jack (Alexander Calvert).
"This will be the most alone Sam and Dean have been," Dabb stated. "They don't have Castiel, they don't have Crowley, they don't have Mom, they don't have Rowena. They have each other and this weird kid who could probably kill them if he wanted to."
The Winchesters must step up and act as Jack's guardians and role models since the one and only Nephilim born from an Archangel and a human. According to the executive producer, both Sam and Dean could relate to what Jack will go through in the upcoming season since both of them had experienced several dark times, which will also happen to Lucifer's son this season.
Dabb also revealed that Castiel (Misha Collins) will return in the next installment of The CW's long-running supernatural procedural drama despite his apparent death in the season 12 finale. However, fans of the series must not expect to see him back in season 13's premiere episode.
"Dean, and Jack to a great extent, had a great bond with Castiel, and they have to marinate a little bit and feel the loss," the executive producer stated. "So even when he makes his triumphant return as a changed character, they'll have an even bigger reaction."
Meanwhile, the synopsis for the season 13 premiere episode titled "Lost and Found" teased that Sam and Dean's mother Mary (Samantha Smith) must find a way to endure spending time with Lucifer in an apocalyptic world after the two of them were heaved into a breach in the season 12 finale.
The premiere episode of "Supernatural" season 13 will air on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
