'Supernatural' Spinoff Air Date, Plot, Cast News: Everything To Know About 'Wayward Sisters' So Far
The 13th season of "Supernatural" will run the backdoor pilot episode of the spinoff "Wayward Sisters." The show will star Kim Rhodes as Sheriff Jody Mills and Briana Buckmaster as Sheriff Donna Hanscum.
The premise of "Wayward Sisters" will center on Sheriff Mills, a "Supernatural" recurring character, who takes in troubled and abandoned women under her care. The sheriff protects these women along with Hanscum because of their unique situation as orphans of supernatural tragedies.
Aside from the casting of Rhodes and Buckmaster, "Wayward Sisters" will bring in familiar "Supernatural" guest stars. Added as regulars to the spinoff is Kathryn Newton as Claire Novak, who is the abandoned daughter of the angel Castiel (Misha Collins), and Katherine Ramdeen as Alex Jones, who is a former vampire captive.
"Wayward Sisters" also signed up Yadira Guevara-Prip in the cast as a new character named Kaia Nieves who lost her family at a young age. She will recur on "Supernatural" season 13 first before boarding the spinoff as a regular. The show will also introduce Claire Barko as a new character named Patience Turner.
The female sheriffs, Claire, Alex, Kaia, and Patience will be fighting the supernatural beings in the spinoff. The sheriffs and Claire will train the other women as fighters but they will also have to learn to deal with their inner demons as victims scarred by deep-seated emotional trauma.
It's not yet known when the backdoor pilot episode will air or when "Wayward Sisters" will actually begin its debut season on The CW. The show, however, is already gaining support from fans, especially on social media.
The network has high hopes this spinoff will fare better than the first one, "Supernatural: Bloodlines," which aired for one season in 2014. "Wayward Sisters" is somewhat familiar to the fandom because they campaigned for this spinoff two years ago after frequent criticisms that the original series did not give much importance to female characters.
