Survivor Season 33 News, Complete Castaway List and Preview: Millennials Compete with Gen. X in Show's New Season

Millennials have been stirring buzz in mainstream media due to certain qualities and stereotypes, and CBS jumps in as they cast ten of them to form a tribe in the new season of Survivor.

New batch of castaways

Survivor just finished its 32nd season, Kaoh Rong, with a wild treat for its audience along with an unprecedented finale twist of voting off a member of the jury. For its next season, Survivor revealed that fans will see a fresh new batch of certified millennials flown to Fiji.

The millennial batch needs to outwit, outplay, and outlast ten Gen. X-ers (the generation born between the early 1960s through the early 1980s) to claim the pot. The 33rd installment of the hit TV reality show would then be aptly titled Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen. X.

Generational war

CBS sees millennials to be the largest living generational group in US history. However, they are typecasted to be very dependent on technology.

The Gen. X-ers, on the other hand, are perceived to be more traditional and stickler for rules, and have high regard for assiduity and persistence.

Survivor longtime host Jeff Probst said that because the new season consists of castaways from different generational groups, it will appeal more to the audience.

Meet the castaways

The Millennials forming the Vanua Tribe are:

Justin "Jay" Starrett - 27, real estate agent
Michaela Bradshaw - 25, vacation club sales rep
Adam Klein - 25, homeless shelter manager
Jessica "Figgy" Figueroa - 23, bartender
Michelle Schubert - 28, missionary recruiter
Will Wahl - 18, high school student
Zeke Smith - 28., assistant manager
Mari Takahashi - 31, professional gamer
Taylor Stocker - 24, ski instructor
Hannah Shapiro - 24, barista

As for the Gen. X-ers forming the Takali Tribe, they are:

Lucy Huang - 42, dietitian
Ken McNickle - 33, model
Chris Hammons - 38, trial lawyer
Jessica Lewis - 37, asst. district attorney
Rachel Ako - 37, recruiting director
Ciandre "CeCe" Taylor - 39, insurance adjuster
Bret LaBelle - 42, police sergeant
Sunday Burquest - 45, youth pastor
Paul Wachter - 52, boat mechanic
David Wright - 42, television writer

With stereotypes being the driving force to wage the generational war, will the Millennials and Gen. X-ers prove themselves away from the preconceived notions? Will age and maturity help the castaways' survival or hinder it? Tune in this fall at CBS for the new season of Survivor.
