Swipe Junior Smartphone Designed for Kids, Launched in India at Rs. 5,999
Parents who are hesitant to give their children a smartphone will no longer have to worry as reports say that Swipe Telecom has recently launched a smartphone designed specifically for kids.
According to NDTV Gadgets, the Indian electronics company unveiled a new smartphone dubbed as the Junior. It is marketed by the company as a mobile device that contains special parental control features that help parents monitor and put limits to the children's usage. It is made for kids aging between 5 to 15 years old. It is also India's first smartphone for kids and is now available via various e-commerce websites like Amazon India, Snapdeal and Flipkart.
Mobile & App detailed that the Swipe Junior comes with a customized user interface for kids with features that enable parents to easily track a child's movement like geo-tracking and geo-fencing. There's also a feature that lets parents specify the safe and danger zones for their kids. A remarkable feature called the SOS alert button is also incorporated into the phone and through that button, children can directly get hold of a pre-defined contact through one-step dialing.
The smartphone is also designed with a shock proof body that is created from food grade materials, making the device totally waterproof and drop-proof. There's also a parent control app management which let the parents allow or block apps on the device.
In terms of hardware specifications, Tech Radar detailed that the handset comes with a 4.5-inch IPS touch screen display with 800 x 480p resolution. It's equipped with 1.3 GHz quad core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of internal storage and runs with Android 4.4 KitKat. It also carries a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. Its battery capacity is 1900mAh and is claimed to provide up to eight hours of talk time or 120 hours of standby time. Color options available include blue and pink.
