'Switched at Birth' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Show Creator Opens Up On A Possible Abortion Storyline

Things are about to get even more interesting and deeper as the fourth season of ABC Family's hit family drama TV series "Switched at Birth" continues this week with an episode that will see Lily (Rachel Shenton) and Toby making the decision that will ultimately define the existence of their baby.

In the last airing of the show, Lily and Toby found out that their unborn child has been diagnosed with Down's syndrome. Both concede that they can't support the child with its special needs. With this situation, the couple comes to a decision that could see the poor baby getting terminated.

But Daphne (Katie Leclerc) won't let Toby make such drastic decision. The former pointed out to the would-be mother her disabilities, which by far, she was able to manage to make it far in life. But Toby insists that Daphne's challenges are different and that they feared having the child will affect their lives as a couple.

In this week's episode titled "Between Hope and Fear," the spoiler report from Design&Trend.com said that Bay (Vanessa Marano) will come in opposition to Daphne's views on Lily's pregnancy. Does their conflict of opinion means Bay is in agreement to Toby and Lily's plan of aborting the child?

Series creator Lizzy Weiss recently discussed with Zap2it (via Design & Trend) about the abortion storyline. She clarified that it wasn't really her intention to push either of the two options.

"I am not pushing either agenda. That's one of the things I want to make clear on any conversation I have about this story. It's a decision that these two characters are making at this moment in the time. That doesn't mean it's better or worse than other people's decision," she said (via Design & Trend).

Weiss went on to divulge that this issue will definitely be brought in front of the whole family but fans won't expect a "preachy" tone from the elderlies. In fact, she said, the conversation will proceed with a mark of intelligence from everyone involved.

"Switched at Birth" Season 4 airs Mondays, at 8 p.m., on ABC Family.
