'Switched at Birth' Season 5 Spoilers: Series Executive Assures Fans That New Season Will Be Worth the Wait

Fans of Freeform's hit teenage drama TV series "Switched At Birth" have been patiently waiting for the arrival of the show's highly anticipated Season 5. The first few updates said that it might air in the next few months. However, news breaks in just this week indicating that the new installment won't be coming out this year.

Apparently, a lot of followers were utterly disappointed with the sudden change of plan.

"…We won't be back til 2017, I'm not sure exactly when. BUT WAIT FOR US," series creator Lizzy Weiss said on her Twitter post.

Nonetheless, Weiss, who also served as the executive producer of the show, reiterated that the long wait will certainly be worth it.

She went on to offer more teasers about the upcoming new episodes. In one of her revelations, she said that Angelo, played by Giles Marini, will be making an appearance. There's a possibility, however, that it could only be in a form of a flashback.

Speaking of characters, Season 5 will also be introducing a handful of newcomers, including "Jane The Virgin" actor Michael Galante who will play the role of a student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City named Luca.

In an interview with Christy Olson of Christy Reports, the actor said that he will be playing a "love interest to one of the characters."

"I can't exactly who, but one of them," Galante was quoted as saying.

He did, however, shared some of the moments he had with his newfound family in Freeform.

"The moment I walked in to get my makeup and hair done, everyone's like, 'Welcome to our family, Michael,'" the actor went on to add. "It was unbelievable. It just makes better chemistry for everybody. The scenes are better, the work's better."

The host went on to ask if the viewers can expect him doing some love scenes to which Galante confirmed. "Pretty much every scene," he said.

"Switched At Birth" Season 5 is now slated to premiere sometime in 2017. Stay tuned for more updates.
