In its San Diego Comic-Con panel, the network gave fans a first look at the series. The clip featured during the expo marked the first real footage of the upcoming show, which was produced by Nomadic Pictures, the same production company responsible for "Van Helsing."

It was revealed that the show's narrative will center on a man named Roman Mercer, who is struggling with his own demons while dealing with prejudice from the people of his town. In order to save the locals from disaster, he should be able to channel his hidden psychic powers. The series is reportedly set in a remote town in Alaska.

"Ghost Wars" features "Emerald City" and "Daredevil" star Vincent D'Onofrio, and "Sons of Anarchy's" Kim Coates, as well as "Tut" and "Twisted" actor Ayan Jogia, who plays the ethnically Indian outcast Roman. Other cast members include "Motive" actress Kristin Lehman and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" star Meatloaf. It will also show Kandyse McClure as Dr. Landis Barker and Luvia Petersen as Val.

The creators of the series previously described it as "not just a contemporary homage to classic psychological horror," but "also an opportunity to tell stories about human politics and how we shape our beliefs and lives based on our individual perspectives and biases."

"Ghost Wars" will premiere on Syfy on Oct. 5.
