'System Shock 3' Officially Announced, May Come Out to VR
"System Shock" gamers are in for a treat as the first-person action role-playing video game is finally going to get a third sequel. According to a report by IGN, Otherside Entertainment and Night Dive Studios have officially announced "System Shock 3." They first made some noise about it with their teaser website that they launched a few days ago.
Latin Post detailed that they offered a sneak peek of what's to come in the game. Upon opening, a flash of the words "she's back" will appear and then the image of SHODAN, the iconic A.I., is also shown. The page also features an audio file which vocalizes the words: "Did you think I'd forgotten you, insect?"
There is also a mailing list subscription link found on the page that will bring fans to a brief survey about the game. Even with only six easy queries, it already comes as a hint as to what to expect on the upcoming cyberpunk adventure game.
The survey contained a question asking prospective players for their preferred consoles with options that include the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. They also asked about their interest in virtual reality. This could mean that the people behind the game are thinking of making it VR compatible.
Answering the survey won't be a waste of time either as there will 16 survey participants who will be chosen to get a limited edition print of SHODAN by Bioshock character designer Robb Waters. As of now, there isn't much details available but Venture Capital Post noted that some of the original developers who worked on the game will be making a comeback. Aside from lead concept artist Waters, Paul Neurath, founder of the series' creator Looking Glass Studios, and Nate Wells, senior artist, will be taking hold of the project.
