The Saints come into Week 17 with a 10-5 record but amazingly are still not yet guaranteed a playoff spot. While the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles are topping their respective divisions with records of just 9-6 and 8-7, if the Saints lose today they could be beaten to the final NFC Wild Card spot by the Arizona Cardinals, who have been in electric form over the past two months.
The Saints have stumbled badly over the past month, and by losing three of their last four games their 9-2 record has turned to 10-5 entering Week 17.

Losses to the Seattle Seahawks, the St Louis Rams and the Arizona Cardinals have left New Orleans' playoff spot on the brink, and they must win today against the Buccaneers to guarantee their place in the postseason.
On paper this should be an easy win for the Saints; the Buccaneers have struggled badly this season and they too have lost three of their last four games. They enter Week 17 with a 4-11 record and are short on confidence and star players.
All three of the Saints' recent losses have come on the road though, and they will be happy to return to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for their final game today, and should be confident to secure their playoff spot in front of their home fans.
Tampa Bay have not won a road game since November 24 against the Detroit Lions. However, the Buccaneers will need no extra motivation for today's game – their season is already gone, but they would love to gain a win over their fierce NFC South rivals to stop them making the playoffs. They no doubt will be going all out to cause an upset today.
