Tanning Mom Movie to Star Patricia Krentcil

Patricia Krentcil, better known as the "Tanning Mom," is set to debut in a film revolved around her life and her obsession with tanning.

Krentcil, who first made her debut on the local news, will star in a film about her own life, according to reports. Krentcil, 45, was arrested last year for child endangerment after taking her then 5-year-old daughter to a tanning salon. The teacher of the 5-year-old reported the incident after noting burn marks on the girl's arm. When asked where she had received the "rash" on her skin, the girl replied that she "went tanning with mommy."

The film that is expected to document Krentcil and her family's life after the story first aired, according to InTouch.

"We were all mentally abused," she told the magazine during a recent interview, "for no reason."

The "tanning mom" also confirmed that she would be playing herself in the film.

"I'll star," she told the magazine. "It's going to portray everything that's happened."

The New Jersey mom was never convicted on charges of child endangerment. A grand jury found the mother not guilty earlier this year. Upon her arrest, Krentcil declared that taking her daughter to a tanning salon was not a big deal.

"It's like taking your daughter to go food shopping," she told NBC 4 New York from her Nutley, N.J. home last year after being released on $25,000 bail. "There's tons of moms that bring their children in."

Krentcil added that she did not allow her daughter to tan with her.

"I tan, she doesn't tan," she continued. "I'm in the booth, she's in the room. That's all there is to it."

The "tanning mom" gained particular popularity due to her appearance when she was arrested. With almost orange-like skin, some suggested that the mother was addicted to tanning.
