Taylor Swift AMAs Trophies Take Her by Surprise
Taylor Swift ruled the American Music Awards last night with three big wins, although the young star explained that she had no idea "this was going to happen."
Swift won the award for Artist of the Year, along with Favorite Female Country Artist for the second year, and finally the Best Country Album.
“This is one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me," Swift said. "I have no idea what I'm supposed to say. I did not think this was going to happen."
British singer Adele also received three trophies for Female Pop Artist, Best Album, and Top Adult Contemporary Performer. However, Adele was not able to attend the ceremony as she was recovering from vocal cord surgery.
Female rapper Nicki Minaj won two awards in the Rap/Hip-hop category for Favorite Artist and Best Album for “Pink Friday.”
Rihanna won the R&B’s Best Album with “Loud” and Beyonce was named Best Female R&B artist.
Jennifer Lopez was named Top Latin Artist and she gave two performances in the night, one solo and one with will.i.am. from Black Eyed Peas.
