Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Rumors: Fans Convinced That the Artists Collaborated for a Duet Song

The collective fans of Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been waiting for the two of them to do a collaboration project, so it did not take much to set off recent rumors that a duet featuring the two singers is part of Swift's new album "Reputation."

Just one Twitter post from Scott Borchetta, CEO of Big Machine Records, is enough to spur the rumor mills into overdrive. Borchetta simply captioned a Target magazine ad that has Swift's new "Reputation" promotion on it on Sunday, Nov. 5.

"This is so good," the CEO commented in his post, tagging Selena Gomez at the end. Just the simple fact that her name is adjacent to Taylor Swift's in a record label executive's post was enough to drive fans into a frenzy.

"IS IT REALLY HAPPENING?? THE COLLABORATION IS HAPPENING???? SLAYYY," one of the fans could not help but exclaim the next day. For her part, Selena Gomez is not really doing much to quell the rumors, and she could be encouraging them instead, when she posted a video on Instagram on Friday, Nov. 3.

In the video, Gomes is self-recording a clip of her and a friend singing along to "Gorgeous," the second single release of Taylor Swift's new album.

The two singers are also close friends and are commonly seen together via their posts on social media. Swift and Gomez, however, have never recorded a track with the two of them in the same studio.

The last time the duo sang together on stage was when Gomez went out to Swift's "Red Tour" in Los Angeles in 2015. The two performers shocked their fans with a duet rendition of "Good for You," according to Inquisitr.

That was only the second time that the singers shared a stage since their 2011 duet at Madison Square Garden in New York City, back in 2011.

"Reputation" is set to launch on Friday, Nov. 10.
