Taylor Swift Next Album News: Ed Sheeran Predicts End of Year Release Date

It has been more than two years since Taylor Swift released her "1989" album, and it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer for the next one--that is, if Ed Sheeran has anything to say about it.

While speaking to BBC about his new album, "Divide," Sheeran gave his two cents on when Swift will possibly drop her next body of work. "Taylor [Swift] isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year - Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records," Sheeran said. "So I've got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."

Sheeran, who has been releasing new singles out of the blue as of late, recently posted the audio tracks of his entire album on YouTube. His new album is also now available on Spotify.

And while nothing has been confirmed about Swift's next project, it is important to note that Sheeran is very close friends with the "Shake It Off" singer, so he may have some insider clues on the matter. Swift and Sheeran famously collaborated on the song "Everything Has Changed."

Swift has been keeping under the radar for a while now following the media coverage and intense public reactions to her dispute with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. She has also had some tough times when it comes to her romantic life, having gone through a highly publicized and controversial three-month relationship with British actor Tom Hiddleston.

Recently, though, Swift released a single with Zayn. Written for the soundtrack of "Fifty Shades Darker," the two artists collaborated on "I Don't Wanna Live Forever." Swift even performed the song alone at Club Nomadic in Houston last month. Sadly, Swift also announced during the concert that it would be her only performance this year.

"As far as I know I'm only doing one show in 2017, and as far as I know, this is that show," she said (via Yahoo). "You are attending 100 percent of my tour dates."

The singer also took to her Instagram account to share photos from her concert that night, which lasted until early the next day.
