'Teen Mom 3' Star Mackenzie Douthit Welcomes Baby Girl (PHOTO)
Former "Teen Mom 3" star Mackenzie Douthit and husband Josh McKee have welcomed their second child, a baby girl. The reality star was induced three weeks early due to complications from type 1 diabetes, which had plagued her throughout the pregnancy.
The couple welcomed baby girl Jaxie Taylor to the family on Friday, Feb. 7. Jaxie is named in honor of her grandfather, Jack, and Taylor is Mackenzie's middle name. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. Jaxie was born via C-section and is perfectly healthy.
"I am so thankful for a healthy baby girl," Mackenzie told In Touch. "Many friends and family were praying and everything went great! She is a beautiful miracle form God. I feel very blessed. Jaxie saved my marriage with Josh and kept our love alive. God's timing is not always our timing, but He always knows best."
The 19-year-old has been a vocal proponent of Christian living and faith, especially during hard times. Doctors warned her against having a second child, given her diabetes, but Mackenzie was determined to have another baby. Even though she was in-and-out of the hospital throughout the pregnancy, she kept the faith and trusted God to bless her with a healthy baby.
"My blood sugars and the baby's were fine during the delivery," Mackenzie said.
Doctors feared that she could have slipped into a diabetic coma during labor, but nothing went wrong and now baby Jaxie is part of the McKee family. Mackenzie and Josh, high school sweethearts, welcomed son Gannon when they were 16 and 17, respectively. Since then, they have gotten married and decided to have another child while still young.
Mackenzie has shared her faith via Twitter and Facebook, encouraging her followers to trust God with everything and know that God has a plan for them. Fans were disappointed when "Teen Mom 3" was not renewed for a second season and will just have to follow Mackenzie and Josh's adventures online now.
