Teen Who Killed Family Wanted to Kill More People, Report States
Nehemiah Griego, 15, has been charged with the murders of his parents and siblings in New Mexico. A police report now shows that Griego intended to go on a killing spree and cause more damage but was prevented from doing so by police.
Griego, the son of Pastor Gregory and Sara, told police he "had been having homicidal and suicidal thoughts so around midnight he retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from his parent's closet and shot his mother in the head while his younger brother slept next to her," the official report states.
When nine-year-old Zephania woke up, he "did not believe" Nehemiah when he told him their mother was dead, so he "picked up his mother's head to show his brother her bloody face." Then Nehemiah shot Zephania and moved on to his sisters' room and shot them in the head.

Gregory was not home at the time of the murder, so Nehemiah waited for him to return. When he finally returned, and walked past his son, Nehemiah "shot his father multiple times with the rifle," the police report said. But Nehemiah was not finished.
"Nehemiah said after killing five of his family members he reloaded the weapons so that he could drive to a populated area to murder more people. He wanted to shoot people at random and eventually be killed while exchanging gunfire with law enforcement," but for some reason he did not.
The boy told police he sent a photo of his deceased mother to his girlfriend, who likely called police and tipped them off about Nehemiah's behavior. They quickly responded and took him into custody. He is currently charged with five counts of murder and three counts of child abuse.
The Albuquerque community has been left stunned by the murders. One neighbor described Nehemiah as "fairly quiet, not real rowdy."
"He seemed to be just a normal kid walking up and down the road," Jerry Crites told KRQE News.
