There are speculations that he was hit by another vehicle when he was taken off another moving vehicle.
According to Bustle, O'Brien, who plays the role of Stiles, might not return to the series. His current projects are currently being pushed back in order to accommodate his recovery. While there has yet to be any official statements regarding the matter, one of the "Teen Wolf" stars, Melissa Ponzio shared a tweet that teased his absence.
Her tweet stated, "New faces, places, emotions, possibilities, confusion, passion, tactics, problem solving, honor, relying on others, loss = #TeenWolfSeason6."
In addition, this fueled the rumors regarding the possible appearance of "One Direction" member Harry Styles in the upcoming season. There were rumors that the sixth season of "Teen Wolf" will present the pop singer.
In addition, it was reported by Creative 123 that the executive producer of the series, Jeff Davis, recently addressed the rumors. He explained that they were not completely fake. He elaborated, "We do want Harry Styles in our show. Like a new British boy. But we're still in talks with people, directors, agents. So we can't confirm anything yet."
However, Digital Spy recently reported that the quote provided by Creative 123 were fake. It was confirmed by MTV that the interview with Jeff Davis and Creative 123 did not transpire. With that, it was confirmed that the "One Director" star will not be part of the upcoming season of "Teen Wolf."
