'Tekken 7' News: Creative Director Katsuhiro Harada Comments on Fans' Desire to See Returning Characters

Currently only two DLC characters set to be released for 'Tekken 7'

"Tekken 7" features its share of familiar faces, some entirely new fighters and even currently has one prominent guest character in Akuma.

It is an interesting collection of characters, but one that many fans would like to see grow even more.

Ever since the official roster was announced, more than a few fans have been wondering about several characters who were unable to make the cut, even asking if they too could be added to the roster.

Push Square asked creative director Katsuhiro Harada about those fan requests and whether downloadable content could be used to address those.

Harada said that he understands why fans want to see familiar characters added to the game while mentioning that doing so was "not so simple." He cited roster balance as a reason for why bringing in those classic characters was not an easy thing to do.

Developers want to introduce some new things while keeping the roster accessible, and including too many returning characters in "Tekken 7" could work against those goals.

This was not the first time that Harada has talked about classic characters.

Earlier this year, while talking about the subject of DLC, Harada mentioned that they "do not sell classic Tekken characters." He added that paid DLC will be used to add "special content" to the game.

Thus far, developers have added the new Tekken Bowl mode to the game as DLC, and later this year, "Fatal Fury's" Geese Howard will be introduced as a new character.

One more guest character is set to be added to the fighting game sometime in the spring of next year.

At this point, there are no plans to introduce any returning characters, so fans looking for them will just have to continue hoping and waiting things will change.

More news about "Tekken 7" should be made available soon.
