Telltale Divulges Information on its Upcoming 'Batman' Game Series
American independent video game developer and publisher Telltale Games is cooking up something new for its gamers and it's going to particularly capture Batman fanatics. As detailed in Engadget, the company is working on a "Batman" game series which is simply titled as "Batman: A Telltale Games Series." And as a way to incite the excitement among fans, Telltale has decided to let them in the project during a panel at SXSW by disclosing some few details.
Batman News reported that the game's story is going to be rated M for Mature and will be akin to an R-rated movie. It will have an in depth view into the life of both Batman and Bruce Wayne, which means players can either go as the masked-superhero or the billionaire and philanthropist Bruce in modern-day Gotham City. But as noted in GameSpot, gamers will have to eventually play as both characters. This was made known by CEO Kevin Bruner.
"But how cool would it be if you chose to say 'I want to do as much as Bruce as I possibly can be, and we do think that's something we're going to offer people," Bruner said. "We expect people to try to play a Batman game with as little Batman as possible," he added.
As for the style of the game, the creators divulged that it will follow the comics made by artists who worked on "Batman" over the last 75 years. It will be similar to Telltales's "The Walking Dead" adaptation which is bringing comic book art to life. In addition, the game will be based on the original Batman so any other existing version of the caped crusader will not be present. But characters like Vicki Vale, Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth and Renee Montoya are said to be featured in the storyline of the game.
The villains are not brought out to the open yet but it's confirmed that there will be more than one. "Batman: A Telltale Games Series" is slated to be released this summer soon. No specific date mentioned yet.
