Tesla's Model X Crossover SUV Goes In Display In Houston, Texas

Popular automaker Tesla Motors is now ready to roll out its latest electric car creation, the Model X Crossover SUV.

Chron.com reports that the California-based auto company will be putting the newest vehicle from its line in display to nearly 30 cities throughout the country this month. Fanatics from Houston, Texas are among those lucky few who can finally get their hands on the two-and-a-half-ton electric sport utility vehicle.

According to the publication, customers can also take the company's Autopilot technology at work this week. This is on top of the opportunity to take the car for a spin.

The Tesla Model X Crossover SUV is more characterized for its "falcon wings" designed doors. The review from Car and Driver meanwhile, indicated that the front doors are self-opening and closing.

It was further revealed in the article that the hybrid car is integrated with "ultrasonic and capacitive sensors" which ensures the driver and his six passengers' safety.

There are three variants with the Model X P90D Founder Edition as the one leading the pack. The other two are the P90D Signature which has 250 miles of range and the less expensive 70D with 220 miles of range. Car and Driver described the first mentioned model having a "spear-sharp steering" despite its weight. It has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and a stated curb weight of 5,441 pounds.

Its wheel sizes range from 2 to 22 inches and its air suspension has five settings with the highest level up to nine inches which makes it more than capable of trailing off-roads.

The Model X Crossover SVU will reportedly starts at $80,000 with its pricier version selling at $142,000 for the Founder Edition.

Chron, meanwhile, added that Austin lawmakers have yet to give Tesla Motors the sanction to operate dealerships in Texas. If given, Elon Musk's company would look to build six dealerships and six service centers throughout the state.
