'The 100' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Possible love triangle between Lexa, Clarke, and Bellamy

Last season, the popular series "The 100" ended when Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Morley) radiated everyone on Level 5, which killed a lot of people including Maya (Eve Harlow). Clarke then left as she was unable to bear the guilt she felt because of the decision she made. On the other hand, Thelonious Jaha (Isaiah Washington) and John Murphy (Richard Harmon) find themselves in front of a very mysterious mansion where a holographic lady informs them that she has a nuclear warhead waiting to be launched.

The new season will be mind blowing, according to the show's producers and the cast. Producer Aaron Ginsburg sent out a tweet about the very bloody set that hints at the possible death of a major character. Meanwhile, actress Lindsey Morgan, who plays Raven on the show, also sent a tweet after reading the script of the third episode, telling fans how wild and crazy the upcoming season will be.

The forthcoming season will take on a more or less futuristic vibe, as the concept of time travel will be introduced. Executive producer Jason Rothenberg said, "Futuristic, yes, but in a weird way, it's also going to go back to the past. 2052 is when the world ended, and its 97 years after that that the show began, so one of the things we're doing with this ending is getting back to how it all began. It's a totally new element for the show. It's a more technological thing, for sure. We're going to play with how the world ended in the first place, and hopefully, we'll upend some expectations."

The upcoming season will feature the backstory of the 12 grounder tribes, including Lexa's (Alycia Debnam-Carey) clan, and fans will most likely get to see Clarke and Lexa meet again. This meeting could probably end with a bloody fight. There is also a hint of a possible Clarke and Bellamy romance in the works next season.

Actress Alycia Debnam-Carey teased a possible love triangle between Lexa, Clarke, and Bellamy next season. "That would be an interesting dynamic because obviously, you know, he's got some feels for Clarke, we can all see that. And obviously Lexa does. So [to see them fight over Clarke], I think that would be kinda cool to see, why not? I'm sure fans would love that one, the love triangle. Or maybe they'd hate it. It would be very ferocious," she said.

Actress Brenda Strong will play Queen Nia, the queen of the elusive Ice Nation that has been mentioned throughout the previous season. She is described as heartless and shrewd. She will do anything to keep her power even if it means losing those closest to her.

The new season has already started filming and is set to return mid-season of next year.
