It's National Doughnut Day 2016 and companies all have something special to offer their customers including free donuts on Friday, June 3. Donut-hungry individuals can locate the closest shops in their city by using the maps app below.
The first Friday of June is the day where people can get some of these fried goodies for free from their favorite donut outlets. According to AZ Central, the tradition started 78 years ago when the Salvation Army paid tribute to the so-called "Doughnut Lassies," an all-female group who would give them treats while fighting during the World War I.
The practice continued annually, and until now, people anticipate for the National Doughnut Day because it means free donuts and other exciting offers. Here are some of the treats for the annual celebration:

Dunkin Donuts

Krispy Kreme
A free donut awaits everyone in various countries including the U.S. and Canada, Krispy Kreme announced. Customers can also grab any flavor they want. There will also be free donuts in India, Australia, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, UAE, Turkey and Qatar. Meanwhile, Krispy Kreme stores in Korea and Japan will give free samples of their original glazed doughnuts.

Duck Donuts
The company said on their Facebook page that they are giving away free sugar donuts to everyone. No purchase is necessary for the freebie since the promo coincides the celebration of National Doughnut Day.
Giant Eagle Inc.
To celebrate doughnut day, Giant Eagle Inc. is giving away 1/2 dozen doughnuts for every purchase of another dozen. The company added that anybody who can appear in any store outlet wearing a non-masked superhero outfit will get a dozen of free donuts.
Beaver's Donuts
According to the Chicago Tribune, the first 500 customers for the three food trucks and its store location will be given four mini doughnuts for free. They will also get a sampler of the new doughnut milkshake.
DMK Burger Bar
The company has partnered with Firecakes to serve donut milkshakes starting Friday until Sunday. There will also be special offerings for these three days. On Friday, customers can enjoy a peanut butter shake and raspberry-blood orange donut and peanut butter shake for $10. Saturday is for a salted caramel shake and apple fritter for $9 while Sunday offers buyers with crème fraiche shake and strawberry rhubarb glazed doughnut for $9.
