'The A-Team' Remake News: Going Back to Where It All Started
"The A-Team" first made it big as a television series back in the 1980s, which was then produced by Stephen J. Cannell. The series has seen a movie adaptation as well. Recently, news came out that 20th Century Fox TV is working on a remake of the series for television once again. According to a report in Deadline, the remake will be a "contemporary take" on the series.
Some names have already been identified with the remake, such as the writer-producer of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, Chris Morgan, who is reported to serve as executive producer together with Cannell's daughter, Tawnia McKiernan. Writing the new adaptation is Albert Kim, who is also the executive producer of "Sleepy Hollow."
According to the report, the new take, while still revolving around a team of American Special Forces operatives with different abilities and areas of expertise, will be featuring a team of male and female members. It will not follow the original formula of an all-male group. It will, however, still follow the same premise of the group as one that wants to prove its innocence after it has been accused of committing a crime that it did not commit. The group believes that a conspiracy is behind all this trouble and throughout the series, they are dead-set on finding out who is behind it all. While doing this, they also end up helping out people in need "using their singular military skills, high-tech expertise and often conflicting individual approaches."

Another report in Variety said that the remake comes at a time when even TV networks want to relive the old days of TV, with so many remakes and revivals released recently. Cult classics such as "Twin Peaks" and "The X-Files" are on the way, while other shows such as "The Muppets" and "Heroes Reborn" have already premiered.
The original "A-Team" cast consisted of four male commandos, namely John "Hannibal" Smith played by George Peppard; Templeton "Faceman" Peck played by Dirk Benedict; pilot H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock played by Dwight Schultz; and the very popular strongman, Bosco Albert "B.A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus played by the iconic Mr. T. The show premiered in 1983 and ran for five consecutive seasons.
