'The Amazing Race' Season 28 Episode 1 Spoilers: Fans Treated to Show's Opening Minutes
Parade recently released a sneak peek of the upcoming "The Amazing Race" season 28 premiere, and fans can't be more excited to see the opening minutes of the show.
Season 28 introduces a first in the show since the racers, who are all social media personalities, have to start from their homes through a virtual starting line. Each team received an email from the host, Phil Keoghan, and attached is a video giving them their first clue in the race.
According to Phil, the teams will now embark on an adventure of a lifetime. "In just 21 days, you'll visit 18 cities in ten countries, and travel more than 27,000 miles," Phil said. "And I have your next clue here in Mexico City at the Monument of Revolution," the host added. The teams excitedly grabbed their bags and hailed a taxi to bring them to the nearest airport to take them to Mexico City. During their ride, Dana and Matt said that it's definitely crazy to be racing from home, and it's totally different.
Another clip was released by the website, and this time, it shows scenes from the very first roadblock of the season. The contestants are seen getting geared up with hard hats to prepare them for the task, which is to assemble pieces of an ancient artifact in an underground cave. Sheri is seen panicking, saying that she's claustrophobic, which is not good given their location.
Matt and Kurt went straight digging in a marked square box to find 13 pieces of the artifact they need to assemble. Matt said he doesn't really know what he's looking for, but he just kept digging, while Kurt has to re-read his clue to get more guidance. It's only the first part of the challenge, so the team members definitely have a lot of work cut out for them if they want to get their next clue.
Watch the premiere of "The Amazing Race" season 28 tonight, Feb. 12, on CBS.
