'The Americans' Season 5: Gabriel Makes Shocking Revelation About Philip's Past
Gabriel (Frank Langella) will expose Philip's (Matthew Rhys) past in the upcoming episode of "The Americans" season 5. Episode 6 titled "Crossbreed" also promises more action as Oleg (Costa Ronin) and Ruslan (Ravil Isyanov) set out on their first ambush mission.
The official synopsis for the episode reads, "Gabriel stuns Philip and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) with a sudden announcement and a crushing revelation about Philip's past. Elsewhere, Stan (Noah Emmerich) and Aderholt (Brandon J. Dirden) draw a fly into their web while Oleg and Ruslan ambush their first suspect."
It remains to be seen what makes Philip's past so shocking and how Philip and Elizabeth will react to Gabriel's revelation, but fans can expect nothing less than an intense, action-packed episode this week. Fans will also witness how Oleg and Ruslan carry out their mission and who their first suspect is going to be.
Meanwhile, last week's episode followed Philip and Elizabeth as they set out on their honey trap missions with Deirdre (Clea Lewis) and Ben (Brett Tucker) in Topeka. On the other hand, Oleg proceeded with the investigation of the reported corruption in the food supply chain. He conducted the probe soon after finding out that the CIA had already stopped pursuing him.
Episode 5 also saw Stan enjoy the company of his new girlfriend, Renee (Laurie Holden), despite Philip previously warning him that she could be an undercover KGB agent.
Elsewhere in the episode, Elizabeth discovered the grave mistake committed by the Centre after Ben explained the U.S. government's thrust in developing a pest-resistant strain of wheat in its agricultural program. She immediately informed Philip about it, but things took a bad turn when Philip turned out to be the culprit behind the killing of an innocent lab employee.
Directed by Roxann Dawson and written by Stephen Schiff, "Crossbreed" is set to air on Tuesday, April 11 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. The next episode titled "The Committee on Human Rights" will be released on April 18.
