'The Bachelor' 2016 update: Ben Higgins says 'Opportunities like this don't happen to people like me'

Ex-flame and familiar face Ben Higgins is officially the new "Bachelor" for year 2016, and the star has revealed that he is "nervous" for the new door that opened in his life.

In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Higgins shared how the new stint is affecting his career. The 26-year-old said, "I think opportunities like this don't happen to people like me," adding that he flew to New York City on a first-class lounge and didn't know "those things existed."

Higgins is a software salesman from Denver who was loved by many of the show's producers and millions of fans after he climbed to the top 3 of the recently concluded "Bachelorette" season with Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Higgins also shared how supportive Bristowe and her fiancé Shawn Booth are for the next stage of his life as the former "Bachelorette" said last June that "Everyone out there would agree with me right now that Ben H. is the man."

According to show host Chris Harrison, fans all over the world have sent messages expressing their interest to be part of the show and get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to date the beloved bachelor. Numerous outlets also report that even former contestants are wanting to be part of the upcoming season.

Among the former contestants who publicly stated their desire to date Higgins is Becca Tilley, who said in her Twitter account that Higgins is the kind of guy that "most 26-yr-old virgins named Becca" are looking for.

Meanwhile, another former contestant, Tenley Molzahn, who is currently on "Bachelor in Paradise," is also rumored to join the upcoming season to battle it out with Tilley, in case she indeed becomes part of the show.

Reports revealed last month that Tenley has gone on a few dates with Higgins, but their blooming relationship had to end when the pair found out that Ben was chosen for the upcoming Bachelor season.
