'The Batman' Movie 2018 Release Date, Plot News: Ben Affleck No Longer Interested in Being Part of DC Universe?
"The Batman" movie may have already found its director in "Planet of the Apes" helmer, Matt Reeves, but there are tons of things that put the film in serious danger.
According to The Motley Fool, lead actor Ben Affleck is losing interest to be part of the DC franchise, which is worrying seeing that his role as Batman is central to the plans for the movies.
This is reportedly because of the poor reception that the DC Extended Universe films such as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" have so far received.

Although Affleck has already said he is committed to play the role of the Caped Crusader once more in "The Batman," The Motley Fool says there are still constant issues on the script.
The site adds that the reduced role of Affleck, who was supposed to direct the film as well, has many worried about how the first Batman solo film outing in years will turn out.
The role of Batman in the DC franchise is crucial. In fact, the character stands as the most important part of the extended universe that DC Comics is trying to build on the big screen.
Add to that the fact that Affleck also happens to be the biggest star in the franchise. The idea of having to recast him will definitely be a massive stumbling block that could change the course of the DC Extended Universe.
There are big plans for the DC Comics big screen universe, many of which central to Batman. In fact, a Nightwing film has just been announced. Washington Post believes that the character will definitely refresh the Dark Knight's franchise.
With regard to getting the directing gig for "The Batman" movie, Reeves said in a statement via Deadline: "I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen."
