'The Big Bang Theory' News: Could Season 10 Be the Last?
Fans will be unhappy to hear that the 10th season of the hit series "The Big Bang Theory" could be the end of the CBS sitcom.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of the series, Steve Molaro, recently shared some details about the future of "The Big Bang Theory." Even though the series has been successful, constantly receiving high ratings, there is a chance that "The Big Bang Theory" season 10 could be the last time fans will see their favorite characters.
Molaro stated, "The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point. The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can." Co-creator Chuck Lorre also shared some details about the series, explaining that it went beyond what they had imagined in the beginning. He stated, "I never imagined nine [seasons] and here we are. I'm not going to presume to know how many years this has because it's ridiculous for me to guess… as long as everybody is having a good time and we're making a show we're proud of … then it's worth continuing."
There is a chance that good-byes to Leonard, Penny, Sheldon, Amy, and the rest of the gang are soon due, especially since the series has shown them grow and evolve as characters. The most recent episode of the series featured Amy, played by Mayin Bialik, and Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, finally reaching an important moment in their relationship.
However, with the ninth season still ongoing, it was reported that Sheldon and Amy's story line could be put on pause for a while. With that, fans can expect that Sheldon will not be bringing out his engagement ring anytime soon.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will return to CBS on Jan. 7, 2016.
