'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 Spoilers: New Episode Recap 'The Comic Book Store Regeneration'
Last Thursday on "The Big Bang Theory," "Castle" star Nathan Fillion guest stars as himself. The show also pays a touching tribute to the woman who voiced Mrs. Wolowitz, Carol Ann Susi, who died in November 2014 after a short battle with cancer.
"The Comic Book Store Regeneration" sees Sheldon unable to forgive Amy when he learns that she helped his professional rival, Barry Kripke, with an application in string theory. Penny defends Amy and tells Sheldon that he needs to let it go. In an attempt to make Penny understand what he's feeling, he tells Penny that Amy has been giving her small puzzles for the last few months as she tests Penny's ability to solve them against some chimpanzees in her lab. Penny is livid and confronts Amy about it. Amy offers her 10 dollars everytime she wins against the chimpanzees, and Penny is not amused by this.
Meanwhile, across town at a deli, Leonard and Raj see Nathan Fillion eating a salad. They go over to him but he says he's not who they think he is. Raj continues to insist that he is Fillion, so Nathan admits it and offers to take a picture with them so that they'll leave him alone. But then, Raj becomes suspicious and asks him to quote his famous line in "Firefly."
"I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you," Nathan deadpans. By then, the actor becomes visibly annoyed and Raj decides to take the picture.
That evening, Howard and Bernadette join the others at the newly reopened comic book store. Mrs. Wolowitz asked Howard to check on Stuart, and when Howard arrives, he finds his mother's living room furniture at the store. Stuart tells Howard that Mrs. Wolowitz gave him the furniture as a gift. Howard leaves the store to take a phone call.
When Howard comes back, he announces that his mother has died. She never woke up from her nap. Everyone gathers around Howard, and Sheldon says to him, "When I lost my father, I didn't have any friends to help me through it. You do."
"The Big Bang Theory" airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
